  3. What is high key lighting and who uses it? High key lighting is lighting that insures that the entire image is clearly visible. It is used in Classical Hollywood Cinema.
  4. What happened in the European Film Industry after WW2? There film studio was destroyed and nearly everything was in ruins.
  5. Who was Roberto Rosellini and what did he do? He decided that he wanted a more raw film that the reflected the world around them rather than a classic hollywood film.

  7. What happened in the late 1950s in France? A group of opinionated young film lovers started writing for a movie magazine "Cahiers du Cinema" going against French directors adaptations on classical hollywood cinema.

Features of Film Noir The main features of a film noir film is to be an oppressive atmosphere of penance, pessimism, anxiety, suspicion that anything can go wrong, dingy realism, futility, fatalism, defeat and entrapment were stylised characteristics of film noir. The protagonists in film noir were normally driven by their past or by human weakness to repeat former mistakes. An example of a film noir movie that we are looking at this year would be the Lady From Shanghai. This movie shows some classic features of film noir as it consists of black and white image, shadows and the characters face a lot of deception throughout the movie. Fractured This film is about a family who after a terrible accident wound up at a hospital. After the wife and daughter go missing in the ER the man decides to conduct his own investigation and convinces himself that the hospital is hiding a big secret. When i first watched this movie i was instantly intrigued, as there is a queasy sense of foreboding attached to the nervy Netflix thriller. This is partly because we know something sinister is going to happen but mostly because we have never been here before and we have a good idea where it is headed. However, as the movie advances we are hit with a shocking and mind-bending ending that tops off the movie and leaves the audience spooked with disbelief. The overall purpose of this psychological thriller is to showcase the amazing power of the mind and how it can shield you from reality when injured, showing the deception you have over yourself.
